Introducing the Sport and Recreation Alliance

Today marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR) who have been re-branded and re-launched as the Sport and Recreation Alliance.

Why has CCPR changed its name?

After 66 years under the name CCPR it was time for change. Many people new to the organisation and its work didn’t understand the name. Valuable time was spent in snatched conversations to give people a clue about what the organisations role. Identified it as a barrier to a wider understanding of sport and recreation and the valuable function the Alliance perform for the sector.

The new name – the Sport and Recreation Alliance – tells people much more about the organisation and its work. They are an alliance of sport and recreation organisations – the governing and representative bodies in the sector – and work collaboratively to put forward the views of its members and provide them with the services they need.

Although the name has changed they are still very much the same organisation, with the same excellent staff, focused on providing the same top quality service to the governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation
