Community Games comes to London

What are you doing this summer? How are you celebrating the Olympic Games coming to London? Don’t know?….then why not hold a ‘Games’ of your own, a Community Games that is.

Community Games is a National programme that has been developed as part of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games legacy, with events happening all over the country. Community Games aims to bring communities together in a sporting and cultural activity bonanza in celebration of London 2012. Your community could be your neighbours, sports club or school, it's up to you, it's your Community Games to organise as is your vision.

The Community Games team can offer support in the following ways.

• Help and advice throughout the lifetime of their Community Games.
• Event Management training.
• T-shirts, bunting, stickers and equipment.
• A framed personalised certificate for the organiser.
• Personalised certificates for attendees.
• Access to monetary support.
• An events page on the website and bespoke postcards.
• Access to other organisations that would be excited to participate in your ‘Games’.

To find out more, have a read of the 'Five Minute Guide' and contact Tanya at communitygames@lscbu.ac.uk tel: 07932 061 443 or you can register your interest at www.communitygames.org.uk and one of our team will contact you.

Community Games Event Management Workshop

The Community Games team want to support organisers with their celebration which is why we're holding an Event Management workshop 6.30pm-9:30pm Wednesday 11 July at London South Bank University, SE1 0AA. The workshop will give organisers the tools and ideas to organise their event, with the Community Games tutor there to answer questions on all aspects of organising a Community Games.

At the workshop, each organisation will receive a Community Games toolkit which includes loads of great ideas on all aspects of organising an event. The above workshop is offered at no charge, however places are limited so we ask those who are interested to fill in the attached booking form and send it to communitygames@lsbu.ac.uk as soon as possible to secure their place.
