Dare2Dance – focus boroughs for 2010 are chosen
Dare2Dance, the girls street dance project led by PRO-ACTIVE Central London, is expanding across London in 2010. The project is supported by the 5 PRO-ACTIVE London Partnerships, London Youth Dance, Big Dance, the Sports Action Zone, the South Bank Centre, Nike and Independance (the project delivery agency) and aims to empower girls and young women through the medium of street dance.
After an open process 9 boroughs have been chosen for the focus of activity next year including 2 in Central London – Islington and Camden. Both boroughs put together an excellent case as to why they have the resources and commitment to deliver the project locally through a partnership between the Council, School Sport Partnership and other relevant partners. Camden and Islington will therefore benefit from empowerment days and a programme of sustainable street dance provision.
In addition the project as a whole will deliver training and performance opportunities across London, and (as part of Big Dance) there will be a showcase and mentoring festival in each sub-region which will be open to all girl street dance groups.
